The founding members of Sequitur Energy Resources are former executives of Mariner Energy. Under the executive team’s leadership, Mariner grew from a private company with an estimated enterprise value of $300 million into a NYSE publicly traded company that merged with Apache Corporation in 2010 in a transaction valued in excess of $4 Billion. Sequitur’s primary capital provider is Acon Investments, an experienced energy investor, which sponsored the management team in the acquisition of Mariner in 2004.
CEO, and President, and Chairman of the Board of Mariner Energy, Inc. (2001 – 2010), until Mariner merged with Apache Corporation in a transaction valued in excess of $4 Billion. From 2000 to 2002, he served as Vice President of Enron North America Corp. and co-managed its Energy Capital Resources group. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Josey provided investment banking services to the oil and gas industry and portfolio management services to institutional investors as a co-founder of Sagestone Capital Partners. From 1993 to 1995, he was a Director with Enron Capital & Trade Resources Corp. in its energy investment group. From 1982 to 1993, he worked in the drilling, production, pipeline, corporate planning and commercial activities at Texas Oil and Gas Corp. He currently serves on the board of directors of Noble Corp. He is a former board member of Northern Tier Energy and Apache Corporation. Mr. Josey holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, and a MS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston.
Chief Exploration Officer and Senior Vice President with Mariner (2000 – 2010). Mr. van den Bold has over 30 years of industry experience in upstream oil and gas management, geology, geophysics, exploration and development activities. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. van den Bold worked with British-Borneo until they were acquired by ENI. Mr. van den Bold worked with British Borneo and British Petroleum from 1986 to 2000 in various exploration and development geoscience positions in North and South America, both Offshore and Onshore. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist, Texas Board Certified Geologist and member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Mr. van den Bold holds BS and MS degrees in Geology from Louisiana State University.
Manager of Shelf Exploitation and Acquisitions for Mariner (2006 – 2010). Mr. Long has 30 years of varied engineering and management experience in the upstream oil and gas business. Mr. Long began his career in 1987 as a production engineer with Sun Oil Company. He worked as a production/operations engineer for both Sun and Unocal in the Midcontinent and Permian Basin. Mr. Long also provided reservoir engineering support for exploration efforts at Unocal and El Paso Production Company. Mr. Long has been active in SPE including serving on the Program Committee for the Production Operations Symposium, the National Engineering Registration Committee (including Committee Chairman) and the National Management and Economics Committee. Mr. Long holds BS (Honors in Petroleum Engineering) and MS (Mechanical Engineering) degrees from Texas Tech University. He also holds a MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University (Jones Scholar).
Vice President Land and Business Development with Mariner (2009-2010). Mr. Odom has more than 35 years of industry experience with emphasis in commercial transactions, Land and Business Development. From 2007 to 2009, he was Chief Executive Officer of White Bay Energy, LLC, which he co-founded. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Odom was the Vice President of Santos USA responsible for managing all of Santos’ land/business development and risk management in the U.S., until its assets were sold. In 2000, Mr. Odom co-founded Gryphon Exploration Company, serving as its Vice President of Land and Business Development until it was sold in 2005. From 1991 to 2000, he was President of C. H. Odom Company, a management consulting firm specializing in oil and gas exploration and development transactions in the Gulf of Mexico and Lower 48 States. Mr. Odom held various other management positions with Global Marine, Transco and Crown Central Petroleum. He holds a BBA in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Texas.
